Arraignment for accused child rapist Erik Lee Nugent is scheduled for Tuesday morning, October 18 at 9:00 a.m. in Missoula District Court before Judge Karen Townsend.

According to court documents, Nugent committed numerous sexual acts with minor children and exposed them to methamphetamine and other drugs over a period of several years.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Ryan Mickelson detailed the charges that Nugent will face on Tuesday morning.

"He's charged with several different things in this case," Mickelson said. "He's charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse of children, sexual intercourse without consent, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, and there are two other counts of sexual contact with a female under 12 years of age."

Mickelson said even though the charges range over several years, the statute of limitations will not be a factor when it comes to crimes against children.

"We do have a long statute of limitations, especially as they relate to children," he said. "This has been an ongoing investigation and we did bring them together into one charging document. I'm not sure if his attorney will attempt to address bail at this juncture, but, if so, the state will request that the bail amount of $150,000 remain in place.

Mickelson said the state will do all it can to ensure that Nugent remains in custody to protect the community. He said the possible penalties, if Nugent is found guilty of all charges against him, add up to a total of 830 years and six months in the Montana State Prison.
