Almost 118,000 Montana voters have returned absentee ballots for the June 5 primary.
If only one-third of Montana's registered voters cast a ballot, like they did in the past two midterm elections, more than half the people expected to vote may already have done so.

Montana has nearly 678,500 registered voters and election officials mailed over 350,000 absentee ballots. Voters can choose one of three ballots, Democratic, Republican or the Montana Green Party.
Four Republicans and two Green Party candidates are vying to challenge Democratic Sen. Jon Tester in the general election, and five Democrats want the right to challenge Republican Rep. Greg Gianforte.
