The Palin administration e-mails were released by Alaska state officials in response to Freedom of Information Act requests filed by numerous news agencies shortly after Palin was named Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential running mate.

Media agencies began scrambling through the contents of the e-mails immediately after their release, with numerous outlets, including CNN, The Washington Post and The New York Times, urging their readers to help them sift through the content.

The New York Times reported that several weeks before Palin was selected as McCain’s running mate, Palin extolled a speech given by then-Presidential candidate Barack Obama in an e-mail sent to several aides.

“He gave a great speech this morn in Michigan — mentioned Alaska. Stole our Energy Rebate $1000 check idea, stole our TC-Alaska gasoline talking points, etc. We need to take advantage of this a write a statement saying he’s right on. (Glad he’s flip-flopping on OCS, too.). Joe — could you help crank this quick statement out as our “reaction” to some of Obama’s good points this morning?”

Other e-mails included in the collection deal with lighter, or should we say, tanner, issues, such as the possibility of installing a tanning bed in the governor’s house. In a 2008 e-mail from the manager of the governor’s house outlines the possibilities for the bed’s installation.

You can learn as the latest dirt is uncovered from the e-mails in The New York Times live blog.
